The Perfect Smile Approach

one Stage 1 - Your initial appointment with a dental surgeon. At your initial appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth and discuss with you the range of treatments available. Between you, you will decide that a crown will be the best option for repairing a damaged or unsightly tooth.

one Stage 2 – Preparing the tooth for Crowning. At the next appointment your dentist will prepare the tooth for crowning. This involves removing any decay and reshaping the tooth after having administered local anaesthetic. In order for the crown to sit comfortably, the tooth will usually be tapered.

one Stage 3 – Preparing the Crown itself.Once the dentist has prepared your tooth for crowning they will use dental putty to make in impression of your mouth. This mould will then be sent to a dental laboratory, where technicians will manufacture a custom made crown. This process normally takes between two to three weeks, and during this time the dentist will fit a temporary crown in order to ensure that the prepared tooth cannot be damaged.

one Stage 4 – Fitting the Crown. At this visit, your dentist will remove the temporary crown, and cement the permanent crown into place.
