 | Stage 2 – Preparing the tooth for Crowning.At the next appointment your dentist will prepare the tooth for crowning. This involves removing any decay and reshaping the tooth after having administered local anaesthetic. In order for the crown to sit comfortably, the tooth will usually be tapered. |

 | Stage 3 – Preparing the Crown itself.Once the dentist has prepared your tooth for crowning they will use dental putty to make in impression of your mouth. This mould will then be sent to a dental laboratory, where technicians will manufacture a custom made crown. This process normally takes between two to three weeks, and during this time the dentist will fit a temporary crown in order to ensure that the prepared tooth cannot be damaged. |
