Welcome
At Perfect Smile, we are always looking for ways to improve the services we offer. We are introducing this newsletter to give you the latest dental health news, information about the practice and tips on looking after your teeth and gums. This issue is packed with lots of interesting articles. We highlight the benefits of belonging to a small corporate group, tell you about five key ways to keep you smiling with confidence, give you information about our specialist treatments and more! Please talk to us if you have any questions about anything you read or any other dental matter. We are always happy to help.
The best of both worlds
As a group of six practices we give you easy access to specialists, a full range of services and confidence in the quality of dentistry that is carried out. We are also better able to continue investing in the latest equipment to ensure you receive the best possible dental care. At the same time, we feel it is essential to maintain a personal relationship with our patients. It is important that you feel comfortable and at ease when you visit us. We do our best to make your dental experience with us a positive one. We always listen to your concerns, and will explain any treatment options available so that you can make an informed decision.
Five steps to a healthy, happy smile
Knowing your smile is fresh and clean can really boost your confidence. It gives you a real feel-good factor, and you can get close to other people without worrying about your breath. Your teeth will thank you for it too – a healthy mouth means less damage to teeth from decay and erosion and a far greater chance of keeping your teeth for life. A healthy mouth is relatively easy to achieve and maintain – usually all it takes is a good daily oral healthcare routine and regular visits to the dental practice.
Here are the five key ways to keep you smiling with confidence:
1) Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, especially at bedtime. You should clean them for 2-4 minutes, making sure you brush every surface of each tooth – not too hard though as that can cause damage to teeth and gums.
2) Make sure you clean between your teeth and under your gumline. We can advise you on the best method for your teeth.
3) Eat a healthy diet. In particular, don’t eat too much sugar, and don’t consume sugary foods or drinks too often – we recommend limiting sugar intake to mealtimes only.
4) Don’t smoke! Smoking has a particularly damaging effect on your oral health. Smokers are four times as likely to suffer gum disease (the biggest cause of tooth loss among UK adults), much less likely to respond to treatment for it, and five times as likely to develop oral cancer.
5) Visit the practice regularly so we can check your mouth for signs of potential problems and treat them early. Having your teeth professionally cleaned by us also helps protect you from gum disease.
Convenient appointments
We understand how difficult it can be to fit dental appointments into today’s hectic lifestyle, which is why we have extended our opening times. As well as our practices now all being open from 9-5 on weekdays, we can now offer late evening and Satruday appointments on request. Our locations have been chosen to make getting to us as easy as possible and should it be more convenient, you can transfer from one practice to another.
Specialist services
At Perfect Smile, we offer a wide range of specialist treatments. Having specialists at our practices means, if necessary we can easily develop a co-ordinated treatment plan for you, without the need for you to travel elsewhere. It also means you can relax safe in the knowledge that you are in very good hands.
Dental implants
Implants are becoming increasingly popular with patients as a replacement for missing teeth, or to provide a secure base for dentures. An implant is a titanium post that is placed into the jawbone. Over time the bone grows around and bonds with the titanium to provide a secure base for a tooth. As well as being strong, comfortable and natural looking they also restore the patient’s normal appearance and make eating and speaking much easier than with dentures.
Straightening your teeth
Many people have crooked and/or over-crowded teeth, which can affect the way they look and the way their teeth bite together, as well as their confidence. As well as offering NHS treatment for any children that meet the necessary criteria we also offer a great range of private orthodontic treatments to all our patients. There are many different options available, including tooth-coloured ceramic brackets, and Invisalign®, a system of near invisible plastic aligners which are removed when you eat and brush.
A brighter whiter smile!
Tooth whitening is becoming increasingly popular across the UK, and since introducing a state-of-the-art one-visit only procedure to each of our practices it has been a big hit. Teeth can become stained by drinking tea, coffee and red wine and by smoking, and they also become more yellow as we get older. Tooth whitening can remove the stains and make your teeth whiter and brighter, making you look younger and feel great!
Facial treatments
We realise that as well as wanting your smile to look great, you’d also like the rest of your face to look equally good. If the face looking back at you in the mirror no longer looks quite as youthful as you would like it to, then ask us about our new facial aesthetic treatments including Restylane and dermal fillers. We can treat facial lines that have been caused by muscle movements, such as frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet around the eyes. We can also make your lips look fuller and less lined around the edges and improve your facial contours making you look years younger
