Introduced 30 years ago, lumineers are ultra-thin and incredibly lightweight implants that are attached to existing teeth.

Lumineers are ultra-thin, highly translucent coverings for the teeth. At 0.2 mm thick, Lumineers resemble contact lenses more than they do the traditional, much thicker veneers that people have fitted. The fact that they are so thin means that, in the vast majority of cases, your teeth don’t have to be prepared before they are attached. In other words, there’s no shaving down of the teeth, no anaesthetic shots and a completely pain-free procedure. The result is a dazzling white smile which is permanent, but can, should the need arise, be reversed. Lumineers combine the aesthetic appeal of veneers with the convenience of bleaching.

To create your lumineers, an impression of your teeth will be used to custom-make your lumineers to fit your teeth in the exact size, shape and colour needed. Once ready, they are painlessly fixed onto your teeth with strong adhesive, ready for you to enjoy your brand new smile.

Overall, lumineers are a quick, easy and painless way to achieve your perfect smile.

Why Choose Lumineers

One of the most advanced forms of cosmetic dentistry.

Recognised as one of the most advanced and innovative forms of cosmetic dentistry, lumineers are a faster, quicker and completely painless alternative to traditional veneers. At just 0.2mm thick, lumineers are fixed to your teeth without any painful tooth grinding or reduction procedures that traditional veneers require. By not altering the structure of your teeth, lumineers also keep your teeth stronger and are completely removable if needed.

Achieve a dazzling ‘Hollywood Smile’.

Lumineers are also comfortable to wear and durable, lasting over 20 years when looked after. Because they are so thin, lumineers are also more translucent than traditional veneers and able to create a more natural smile. With lumineers, you can speak, eat and live your life to the fullest. They offer the perfect solution to many cosmetic problems, but also are the perfect option for those that don’t suffer from a specific condition but want to achieve a dazzling ‘Hollywood Smile’.

How Do Lumineers Work?

1

Initial Consultation

At your initial appointment at a Perfect smile clinic, your dentist will explain how Lumineers work and whether they are suitable for you.

2

Preparation

Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and the mould will be sent to the Cerinate Smile Design Studio, exclusive manufacturers of Lumineers. Using the mould, scientists at the lab will craft your unique Lumineers. There will also be some slight drilling since the fitting of Lumineers requires some roughening of the tooth surface.

3

Attaching your Lumineers

At your next visit, your dentist will test your Lumineers for fit and shade. Once this has been established, after some slight etching, the Lumineers will be fitted and set in place with a curing light. Unlike traditional veneers, a full set of Lumineers can be attached at one visit and the entire procedure is painless and only takes about an hour.

Treatment Comparison

Traditional veneers

  • Traditional veneers are placed over existing teeth in a process which often requires extensive reshaping of the tooth in question. Often, this involves the cutting away or filing down of perfectly healthy tooth structure. It also means that the process cannot be reversed since the structure of the tooth beneath has been altered beyond repair.

Lumineers

  • Lumineers are bonded to the tooth in question after only the slightest etching.
