Roll Back the Years With Facial Rejuvenation

Posted on 04.06.2014 by perfectsmile

Facial rejuvenation is a phrase which covers a whole range of treatments designed to restore the youthful appearance of the patients face. In general, the treatments in question will aim to improve both the appearance of the skin and the symmetry of the features in the face. Whilst the most well know procedures involve actual cosmetic surgery, there are also many non-invasive treatments available, such as injections to the face, peels and fillers, all of which can lift, tone and freshen the skin without the patient having to go ‘under the knife’. A few years ago it may have been regarded as the height of vanity to seek out treatment of this kind, but the non-invasive rejuvenation treatments now widely available are regarded in the same way as cosmetic dentistry – as a means of boosting a patients self-confidence and allowing them to feel, literally, comfortable in their own skin. Facial rejuvenation Amongst the facial rejuvenation treatments now available are the following:

Botox BotoxBotox is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the face. It takes the form of a substance which is injected into the muscles of the face using an ultra-fine needle. The treatment itself is very quick and virtually painless, and the effects of the Botox – a ‘smoothing out’ of the features – should become apparent within 3-5 days. The areas and problems generally treated using Botox include frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet and the area between the eyes. Once the treatment has been accessed, it will need to be repeated roughly every 4 to 6 months.

‘Kinder’ Botox This is a treatment which is widely used in France, Germany and Italy yet is still establishing itself in the UK. It consists of a combination of ingredients such as minerals and vitamins, co-enzymes and amino acids, which are mixed with a gel. This mixture is then applied to the area being treated utilising electrical pulses, a process which causes it to be absorbed through the pores and into the skin. The Vitamin C Anti-ageing Facial is delivered over a course of 7 treatments of 30 minutes each, something which should improve the tone, elasticity and radiance of the skin.

Dermal Fillers Dermal fillers, like Botox, improve the volume, tone and elasticity of the skin whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. A hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin using extremely fine needles and it first acts to give the skin more volume, as if replacing the body’s natural moisture, and then to smooth out any wrinkles present. The areas generally treated with dermal fillers include the crow’s feet round the eyes, the lines on the forehead and those between the nose and the mouth. Other areas of the body which can be rejuvenated using dermal fillers include the hands, the neck and the décolletage. The products utilised include Restylane, Juvederm and Sculptra, and the effects of the treatment last between 6 and 12 months.

Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is an intensive form of exfoliation, which applies a fine jet of microscopic abrasive particles to the face via an electronic wand. The particles remove the outer layers of dead and damaged skin cells whilst the wand simultaneously cleans the debris just formed using a vacuum. The treatment will simultaneously stimulate the flow of blood to the face whilst also promoting the creation of the body’s own elastin and collagen. It can make tired, dull complexion appear rejuvenated and freshened as well as alleviating lines and wrinkles and helping to deal with the effects of scarring caused by acne or birthmarks. Microdermabrasion is an ideal treatment for those who find the thought of needles being injected into the face, as with Botox and fillers, too invasive.

Gentle Facial Peel The Obagi Blue Peel is a chemical peel which is applied to the face and has an exfoliating effect, removing the outer layers of dead tissue which leave the skin looking dull and tired. The chemical peel is applied to the face and then gradually warms up as it penetrates the skin. The peel will leave the face with a slightly blue tinge for 24 hours, so it’s probably best not to have it applied the day before an important appointment. After it has been washed off it will leave the skin on your face looking smoother, firmer and younger.

If you’d appreciate the boost to your confidence and self-esteem which a younger, fresher looking face would provide, then contact your nearest perfect smile clinic and ask about facial rejuvenation in London. You don’t leave your teeth looking old and tired, so why should your face?
