We offer a range of facial treatments as part of our patient care, to help give you a fresher, younger, beautiful new look.

Our expert practitioners are experienced in the procedures involved and have the expertise to give you peace of mind.

Our treatments are carried out to the same impeccably high standards as our dental work. Lines, furrows and wrinkles result from a combination of muscle movement and ageing. If you’re angry or annoyed, for example, you crumple your brows together. Underneath your skin, your facial muscles contract, causing your skin to pleat together in a frown. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity and the lines become more prominent.

Facial treatments are now widely regarded in the same way as cosmetic dentistry, as a means of boosting your self-confidence and allowing you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

If you’re ready to find out how our facial treatments can enhance your features and your skin, to help you show off your perfect smile, get in touch today.

Anatomy of the wrinkle

Glabellar lines or wrinkles result from the combination of muscle movement and ageing. If you’re angry or annoyed, for example, you knit your brows together. Underneath your skin, your facial muscles contract, cause a pleating of the overlying skin and then, as anyone can see, you’re frowning.

For women, whose faces tend to be more animated than men’s and whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear exaggerated and more permanent.

Fortunately, there is a way to temporarily reduce moderate to severe glabellar lines. Facial rejuvenation treatments can visibly smooth and soften moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. An improvement can be seen within days and may last up to 4 months, although results may vary. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better 1 month after treatment.

Treatment

1

Stage 1

The Perfect Smile face and lips treatment technician will examine your face and talk through the issues and areas which are concerning you, outlining what can be done to alleviate them. Depending upon the nature and scale of your problems, the decision will be taken as to whether Botox or Juvederm treatments are more appropriate.

2

Stage 2

By examining your face and noting the muscles which you use to frown etc, the technician will be able to decide precisely where to administer the treatments. Although the injections are very small and virtually painless, some patients may choose to take up the option of having the areas in question numbed with an anaesthetic cream or ice pack.

3

Stage 3

The treatment will be administered using small, very fine needles. Most patients describe the treatment as feeling no worse than tiny pin pricks.

4

Stage 4

In the case of Juvederm, the effect will be instantaneous, whereas Botox injections may take up to 7 days to take effect. Where Juvederm is administered, a ‘touch up’ 2-4 weeks later may help to achieve the very best effects possible.

After the treatment

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. When it comes to lip augmentation, the swelling may last longer. Some patients experience swelling for about a week. During this time, the lips can look somewhat uneven.

This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be regarded as the final result. If the discomfort continues or if other reactions occur, you should always contact your practitioner.

A touch-up treatment within 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction.
