How All-On-4 Implants Work
In an All-on-4 dental implant treatment, four implants are surgically put in the jaw to support a bridge with prosthetic teeth in the upper or lower dental arch. The implants are supported by a fixed bridge or denture that is attached to the patient's natural teeth.
All-on-4 dental implants make use of the stronger bone at the front of the jaw, so bone grafting — an intrusive, time-consuming, and intensive process – is often avoided. Four titanium posts are surgically placed at an angle into the jawbone. This boosts jawbone density and relieves strain on the jawbone during biting and chewing.
How Long Does All On 4 Implant Treatment Take?
The All-on-4 surgery takes anywhere from 2 to 5 hours to complete. This depends on how many teeth need to be removed. After that, you'll spend a few days recovering while the bruising and swelling from the procedure goes down. The next step is to ensure that your brand-new All-on-4 teeth are a comfortable fit in your mouth.
Compared to the normal 3–4 month healing period for standard dental implants, the All-on-4 implants technique provides a much shorter recovery period. Beginning on day one, the implants will begin to fuse with your bone.
