Understanding the Cost of Smile in a Day in the UK

Living with several missing teeth, failing teeth or loose dentures can make everyday activities difficult. Many patients considering Smile in a Day have spent years avoiding certain foods, being embarrassed in social situations or wearing dentures that move when they speak or eat. This treatment gains attention because it fixes teeth the same day, allowing patients to leave with a functional smile instead of months without teeth.

The Smile in a Day cost in the UK typically ranges from around £11,000 to £18,000+ for a single jaw and £17,000 to £35,000+ for both jaws, depending on the number of implants used, the type of final restoration and the complexity of treatment.

When evaluating smile in a day prices many patients weigh the investment versus the limitations of living with failing teeth or removable dentures. For patients deemed suitable for treatment, regaining fixed teeth, improved chewing function, and renewed confidence in a single treatment journey is often what makes Smile in a Day such a life-changing option.

Dr Fareed Khan graduated from Leeds University and has always had a special interest in Temporo-mandibular Joint Dysfunction. He had a paper published on this subject whilst still a student.

After graduating, he spent a couple of years in a Dental Practice but then was resident in hospitals studying Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 3 years. Fareed then went to the USA for 2 years and studied Maxillofacial Radiology and Cranio-Facial Imaging.

Since then he has worked in our Putney practice and spent 5 years part-time at Eastman Dental Hospital studying Dental Implantology.
He has a special interest in the relationship of the Dental Occlusion to the position of the lower Jaw and the effects this may have on the TMJs and associated structures.

Fareed believes that the bite can affect the jaw position and place strain on the TMJs and jaw muscles, and therefore he has developed a protocol to realign the teeth and repair worn down teeth and replace missing teeth to help support the jaw in its natural position. Many patients have reported reduction in their TMJ and jaw muscle symptoms after this rehabilitation.

He is happy to accept private referrals for patients with these symptoms and offers consultations.
Dr Khan is now studying digital dentistry and believes the future of Dentistry is a holistic approach with the aim of healthy teeth and jaws. He also believes form and function go together so usually the most healthy position of the teeth is also the most aesthetic.

In his spare time he likes to train in his personal gym and spend time with his family.

Smile in a Day Timeline What to Expect

While the implants still require time to integrate with the jawbone, you do not have to spend months without teeth during the healing process.

  • First Few Days: Some swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the gums are normal following implant surgery. Soft foods are usually recommended while the area begins to heal.
  • First Few Weeks: The gums continue to recover, and patients become more comfortable speaking and eating with their new teeth. Follow-up appointments help monitor healing and progress.
  • Three to Six Months: The implants gradually bond with the jawbone through a natural healing process known as osseointegration. This forms the foundation for long-term stability.
  • Final Restoration Stage: Once healing is complete, the temporary bridge is replaced with the final custom-designed restoration, created for long-term aesthetics, comfort and function.

Frequently Asked Questions About Smile in a Day

Mask Group 5

For patients missing most or all teeth in an arch, replacing every tooth with an individual implant and crown is often significantly more expensive than a full-arch solution. This is one reason many people comparing Smile in a Day cost also compare it with full-mouth implant treatment. A consultation will determine which approach is clinically appropriate and financially sensible for your situation.

Traditional dentures rest on the gums and can usually be produced without surgery. Smile in a Day involves digital planning, implant placement, temporary fixed teeth and a final implant-supported restoration. The additional clinical and laboratory stages increase the investment but provide a fixed alternative to removable dentures.

Like any long-term dental restoration, ongoing maintenance should be considered. Review appointments, professional hygiene care and occasional replacement of components or restorations may be required over time. Understanding these long-term costs helps provide a more realistic view of the total investment.

Not necessarily. When comparing Smile in a Day prices, it is important to understand what is included. The number of implants, clinician experience, temporary teeth, final bridge materials, aftercare and maintenance arrangements can vary considerably between providers. Comparing treatment plans often provides a clearer picture than comparing headline prices alone.

The answer depends on your priorities. Many people choose Smile in a Day because they want fixed teeth, improved chewing ability and greater confidence when speaking and eating. The value is often measured not only by the treatment itself but by the ability to avoid the day-to-day limitations associated with loose or uncomfortable dentures.

In some situations, delaying treatment can lead to additional tooth loss, worsening dental infections or further bone loss in the jaw. This may increase treatment complexity and limit future options. An assessment can help determine whether postponing treatment is likely to affect the overall cost of care.

Differences in Smile in a Day prices often reflect variations in implant systems, clinician expertise, laboratory quality, digital planning technology and the type of final restoration provided. Understanding these differences can help explain why two treatment quotes may appear very different.
